Maybe they bought Dogpile to keep someone else from getting it. The web is so huge, that meta search engines are the premium engines.

What about Door2Net?

WST ---In a post this afternoon, you mentioned (see below)...you didn't like the "Dogpile name or search at all"...but I understood you to say you liked Metacrawler......

Just a note.... If we can currently question Metacrawler on ---pick a subject...i.e. Blue Angels (since they are flying here today), or hummmm.... let's say WallStreetTips.....
(try it!!! in Metacrawler...)....

Can we just imagine just how much MORE powerful Metacrawler will be when the two are combined, and then we add the power of Mr. Oren Etzioni.....!!!
I believe we are going to find that perhaps instead of just 'reading the paper' (reactive), we are eventually going to be using search engines for nearly everything we want/need to know (proactive)...and....we can find information (now and in the future) about the person/company who published that article....IMO, Definitely a powerful purchase by GNET...!!

Seperately I discussed with some others here and outside about Dogpile acquisition by
GNET. Many do not see any synergy with this acquisition. Personally I don't like
Dogpile name or search at all. I think GNET made a big mistake by paying $55 Mill for
such LLC company. What kind of rubbish name is this Dogpile? Only thing I like about
it is it will put GNET in #7 spot on most visited websites on the net.
I agree with some of you, that why does GNET need 2 search engines when they
already have Metacrawler. I find Metacrawler as great search product. I hope GNET
management sees something that we don't in Dogpile.

WST,

Congratulation. There's nothing wrong for locking profits. Did you see Bill F. on cnbc yesterday? He said no long term for hitech, just day trade for fun for making money...oh boy, I MAY sell everything today.

Good luck to all longs& shorts.
