Best way to learn to short sell is to follow these threads:

Mr. Pink
Anthony@Pacific (both private and SI)
Auric Goldfinger
Bill Wexler

Also, read Kathryn Staley's book: The Art of Short Selling

Fundamentally, you look for a company with limited or declining revenues, negaitive cash flow, limited financial resources, and questionable management. The holy grail is actual fraud. You want management to be hyping the stock in the face of poor business performance. And you want a catalyst to help the stock decline.

Look at the TMSR and TMRT threads for a good feel for a couple of good, but different shorts. I suggest you scroll up the TMRT thread to a post I did of an LA Times article on TMRT to see how bad they really are. And check out the chart and news on UPCA to see a great pump and dump.

Also, subscribe to Anthony@Pacific. You should be able to make good money on even the delayed e-mail. The real-time chat is an absolute gold mine.

Good luck,

Archer
