I would recommend stocking up on: rubbing alcohol hydrogen peroxide batteries benadryl cigarettes booze (personally loathe the stuff so wouldn't do that one) .22LR, 9mm. .223 ammunition (.22 would be a staple) If you can get your hands on antibiotics and pharmaceuticals you might also have some bargaining power. Besides, if Y2K turns out to be a bust, you can throw one hell of a party with that stuff.

Actually, although I'm trying very hard to resist asking whether this means I'd have more fun as a blonde in the millennium, this is a serious question not just in the context of barter but whether these have some special utility that means I should be stocking up on them.
