survivin,

<Looks like monday is the day.
pcworld.com >

Thanks posting the link. Monday is pretty confirmed now for the beginning of the launch.

For most people on this thread, there are probably not going to be any surprises in Athlon Pro related stuff with the exception of OEMs & systems availability.

I am personally looking forward to what they say/do with the Athlon-Ultra line. There is some stuff here that could create enormous amount of buzz in the analyst community. Analysts are forecasting AMD to not break into this segment for several quarters if not several years. Speed grades, spec numbers, OEMs commitment to deploy it are issues that have received very little attention to date and this area and the potential in high end servers segment can go a long way in changing the perception of AMD.

Barely survivin - Re: " Looks like monday is the day."

That article stated :

"Athlon will debut at 500 MHz, 550 MHz, and 600 MHz, AMD has said, matching the clock speed of Intel's fastest Pentium III processor launched last Monday. Top-tier PC makers are expected to offer the first Athlon systems in mid-August."

So Monday may NOT be THE day - just another Stealth Launch !
