Not really the point I was trying to make.

People who short stocks tend to be more objective about looking at stocks as financial instruments. They tend to be very focused on "what can make me money" and tend not to develop feelings of ownership or overprotectiveness. Most of them also go long many stocks (certainly Bill has, and I am almost always net-long).

However, I don't "cheerlead" my longs, any more than I try to trash the shorts. I call them as I see them. Pretty cold and heartless to those people who fall in love with stocks, cool products, nice managements who always return their phone calls, etc.

My gut reaction from what little I've seen on GUMM is that there's no rational basis for the current valuation. However, I don't have time to look into this one, so I don't bother.
