Eric,

Thanks for sharing your Fido experiences. I have to say I was shocked when I saw you posting you were going to try them. Your trades took me back to my days as a Datek trader. I used to have to "lead" my trade by a couple of ticks if I hoped to get filled, ie, if the ask was 24 1/4, I'd have to bid 24 3/8 and hope that by the time the order posted I'd be in time to catch the move. Pretty hopeless for serious daytrading.

Rick

Eric,

My new CyberX account has been so valuable I think I'm going to close Brown out and kiss them bye-bye. Short sales are awfully fun when you just have to hit a button and not leave a blood sample and drivers license to satisfy the suits in Boston.

Now, I see they are only displaying 100 shares, even when they have a customer order for 1000 shares. By doing this, they create an advantage for themselves, while providing a significant disadvantage to both their customers and the other traders in the marketplace.

Yep, the worst thing is, you never know how much really he is willing to sell and even more than that: he changes his mind depending on the way you put order in! For instance, try to SOES him, and you will get 100 shares almost for sure. Route SNet All Or Nothing, and most likely it will be ignored. Send SNet Any, and you might get whole 1000. What is it, just an ego? "Don't make me, ask me"?

Hi Eric P; I SOESed into MERCS this morning at 4 1/8th. The MM was showing 200 shares, and I was asking for 400. I thought that because of the new rules, he would have to fill me for all 400 or get off the ask.

Instead, he filled me for 200. Then my SOES order hung around for 15 seconds, then he filled me for 200 more, and vamoosed. If I had known that is what he was going to do I would have preferenced him, as the commissions would be cheaper, I think.

Eric,

Yes. The 100 size and 17 seconds time-out are certainly at MM's edge. I prefer to trade higher price stocks these days.

Unfortunately, SEC and MM's are pretty much on the same side. Unless someone has hard evidence, they won't do anything about it.

BTW, I took Dan's recommendation on CyberX. I am quite satisfied on its speed of execution. Give it a try.

Good trading,
JT
