I think KLIC has held up rather well the past two days with the volatility in the market. That said, Briefing.Com thinks the semi-equips will get a bounce because of the new SIA report that came out last night. If the jobs report is decent we might finally get that long awaited rise in KLIC's share price. SIA report: June semi sales jumped 13.6% By Bolaji Ojo Electronic Buyers' News (08/05/99, 04:00:32 PM EDT) Further confirmation of the ongoing expansion within the semiconductor market emerged today in a Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) report that shows worldwide chip sales surged 13.6% in June from the year-ago period. Though total sales fell slightly from the preceding month, worldwide semiconductor sales rose in June to $11.22 billion, from $9.8 billion in June 1998. Japan and the Asia-Pacific region again led with a 20% sales spurt for a combined $4.87 billion, or about 43.4% of global sales. While Europe continued to weaken on a month-to-month basis, the Asia-Pacific region and the North American region eked out a small increase. "June's global sales numbers indicate that the industry is continuing the recovery that commenced in mid-1998," said George Scalise, president of the SIA, the industry organization representing about 90% of U.S.-based semiconductor manufacturers. "The strong year-to-year growth correlates with our recently released mid-year forecast that calls for 12.1% growth year-to-year." The SIA said continued currency problems in Europe, where the Euro has been depreciating against the stronger U.S. dollar, was partly responsible for the 1.5% yearly growth witnessed in the region.
