One last but important note Dave. If you've put in a lower than ask order for the day, then decide you want the stock at the current price and call to change it, tell your broker its a "go around" and be sure he confirms back to you that you've canceled one order and initiated a new order. If you don't, you may end up with two orders for the stock and owe twice as much as you planned. At the end of the day the bid/ask often widen to ease the mm's burden if news impacts the stock price after hours. It should narrow during the day or someone's not doing their job.
