Recently the WSJ reported that AT&T AND British Telecom invested together into Rodgers Cantel Mobile of Canada.BT AND AT&T plan to work together to further consolidation of the Canadian Wireless Telecom market and to enable the next generation of wireless communications. My own take on this is(not the WSJ),that this could be the beginnings of the universal global wireless internet setup that for ATT and British Telecom would mean pressing onto broad band CDMA and a switch to CDMA in all there markets.Rodgers Cantel is a non-CDMA carrier surrounded by CDMA carriers in Canada.AT&T is a non-CDMA carrier surrounded by CDMA carriers in the USA.British Telecom will soon be surrounded by a new CDMA giant Vodaphone/Airtouch.When will all this come together? My guess is as good as yours, but I would think that the sooner Vodaphone/Airtouch move to Broad Band CDMA the faster we will see CDMA 2000 or WCDMA come to past for AT&T and British Telecom.
