With direct access you can Selectnet a MM, so you need a MB, Watley, Cyber, Attain.

< By the way who is GVRC? ,a totally useless MM >

GVRC = GVR Co.

DB:

I have a question for the thread. I appreciate any answer/opinion. Is there any OLB where I can choose the MM, other than ECNs?

I don't believe there are any discount brokers where you can select which market maker to display your order. The discount brokers typically get a payment for order flow and therefore negotiate the "best deal" with the different market makers. I assume your order goes to the one willing to pay the best kickback or gives the best fills (wishful thinking).

Waterhouse, too, seems to assigns different stocks to different MMs.

With ERICY, for instance, the MM was always MADF and the fills were great. In fact, I was often able to buy on the bid and sell on the ask. (I wonder why?) A few days ago I traded ADCT a few times with Waterhouse and their MM for that stock filled me within a few seconds each time. (The slow confirmations, though, are always torturous!)

But with other stocks, the Waterhouse MMs can be murder, especially if you catch one who is not too busy to work without autoexecution. Once I discover that the MM for a certain stock is not autoexecuting, I drop him like a bad habit.
