(COMTEX) B: Latin American cellular phone services fuelled by prepaid B: Latin American cellular phone services fuelled by prepaid subscribers shows study AUG 9, 1999, M2 Communications - A study conducted by the Strategis Group has found that the growth of cellular phone services in Latin America is being driven by prepaid cellular/PCS subscribers. The report released by Strategic, entitled Prepaid Cellular/PCS in Latin America: Market Potential and Business Strategies, found that pre-paid services lowered prices, thereby encouraging rapid growth and even resulting in contract subscribers moving to the prepaid option. The study looks at prepaid services in 21 Latin American markets and focusses on case studies from three prepaid operators including Telcel in Mexico, Comcel in Colombia and Telcel in Venezuela.
