MP3 just means MPEG3 Level 1, standard is 44khz cd stereo audio rates. You can go anywhere from like 8khz mono to like 48KHZ surround sound or something. The rio says 4 hours of music, not speach, which requires far less space. Just getting rid of the stereo doubles the time. There is also MPEG2 and joint stereo and the likes. Also liquid sound smuch better if you have a lot of high frequency harmonics. AND ADBL also has an MP3 site they are beta testing now. But 6 3/16 is much better than the 17-21 some of us origianlly bought at :)
