To all: I talked to Conexant's investor relations yesterday. Was told that modems make up 90% of the personal computing section and Conexant makes 50% of all modems. Personal computing sells go up in the third quarter of the calendar year but they don't know if Y2K will decrease sells. Modems are mainly for computers for individuals not business so are there any thoughts if Y2K will be a problem. Conexant will start selling ADSL products later this year to customers they already have. ADSL is a part of the personal computing so I guess this will decrease the weight modems have in this section and with the other sections growing faster then personal computing the weight modems have for the whole company.
My guess is that this quarter will be very good to us stockholders.
The last earnings report gave the growth rate for Conexant's different business sections. Does anyone have any idea what the growth rates are industry wide?
