BRIDGE ASIA METALS FOCUS: CHINA TO FREE SILVER TRADE JAN 2000
Hong Kong--Aug 6--The Chinese government plans to end its half-century
monopoly in the domestic silver market on Jan 1 by allowing local firms to
trade silver in the domestic market, Chinese silver producer sources said
today. From the same day, the government is also planning to cancel a ban
on silver exports, they said. A change in China's silver policy could
boost the country's silver exports and hedging demand in overseas futures
markets. (Story .2016)
