Of course, it's risky. However, as pointed out earlier, CSCO appears to be in good shape to beat the consensus by the usual penny on better-than expected revenues despite a higher headcount. Also, because of several large ongoing contracts, earnings visibility and linearity for the quarter are higher than usual.

Moreover, keep in mind Bill's observation that the analyst is probably being asked about the stock constantly in the current lousy environment for most technology issues, especially as CSCO is down markedly as well.

What I objected to was Howard's gratuitous "analyst bashing" and inaccurate characterization of the analyst's position as an upgrade rather than merely a reiteration of his recommendation.
