"It tells us that the economy strengthened significantly as the third quarter got underway," William Sullivan, senior economist at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, told CNBC TV.

Sullivan notes that the size of the workforce actually fell last month. The Fed thinks that kind of pattern presages swifter wage increases and slower productivity growth, since employers may be starting to accept unqualified applicants just to fill vacancies.

the houses know that these high p/e companies can't go higher in a high intrest rate enviorment

Or can they? No one knows this for certain. Their earnings growth certainly won't suffer as much as that of other industries. Also, we are still a ways from a "high interest rate environment".
