Sudan: Syria Prepared To Invest In Oil Industry - BBC Monitoring International Reports 10-Aug

Energy and Mining Minister Dr Awad Ahmad al-Jaz this morning held a meeting
with the Syrian ambassador in Khartoum, at which he received an offer from Syrian
companies to invest in the field of petroleum to support the petroleum industry in
Sudan.

The energy minister lauded the standard of cooperation between the ministries of
energy and mining in both countries. He welcomed the Syrian offer, saying that it
would be studied and evaluated by the relevant technical authorities in the ministry.
He expressed hope that more Arab companies would offer to work in Sudan to
support unity and Arab solidarity.

For his part, the Syrian ambassador commended the development being
witnessed in Sudan and the achievements being made in prospecting for oil
despite the challenges, campaigns by enemies and the imposed war.
