I don't believe anyone wanted him to defend it. Our choices always say something about us- that is the only point I was making. It was in the context of a discussion where Neocon said he didn't really think there were free thinkers. I do not see why you think evaluating someone's choice of a moniker- in the context of his group identity, when he DID intend it to be a badge of his identity (for political threads, he says) is asking him to defend his choice, and I certainly didn't think his choice was silly or offensive- nor did anyone else seem to think this. I realize it is always fun to jump to the "aid" of a friend, or perceived ideological counterpart, but in this case you seem to be barking up the wrong tree. But bay away if you like.
