You have to wonder if at some point it might become illegal. I realize that it is probably difficult for CNBC to find a good 'independent' analyst that does not work for an investment bank. Having analysts talk up stocks owned by their firms on national television - it just seems like such an obvious conflict - you might as well have CEOs coming on TV yelling "buy my stock!" But I suppose it is we investors who accept the practice.
