GIs were issued a metal tube with the needle built in. Jab it in and squeeze. Ambulances had boxes of the units and a few of our guys figured out that taking a triple or more dose was a quick way to a trip. Germany in '69 and '70 had damn few nerve gas attacks but we were going through kits like it was WW III. Finally they were taken out and issued on a sign out, special mission only situation.
