Rtev, re the eBay outage, so what's your point? ebay flat out said it was a hardware failure, which says to me single point of failure problem on their Sun server, assuming they haven't swapped it out for something more reliable since the other mega-publicity outages they had a while ago. Yes, they said they then had network problems, but the outage has to go up against hardware. It started it. What a coincidence that McNealy was on CNBC, being as arrogant as ever, within an hour or two after it apparently happened.

*** UPDATE ***

We just want to bring you up to date on the events of this
morning. We have experienced a hardware failure, and
subsequently we developed network problems. We are working to
restore full functionality of the system.

We're sorry for the inconvenience, and we'll keep you posted.

Regards,
eBay
