TM is still beating the MP3 is dead drum.. he still hasn't gotten over the fact that it is included in phase one of SDMI,(which he stated wouldn't happen), and is not likely to disappear soon. Especially since they seem to be heading toward SDMI compliance. All of which is a moot point since EDIG has stated a number of times that our system will support MP3 as well as the rest.
He fluffed off Warfield about a codec question also. Codec owners are usually paid license fees which would come from OEMs of devices or from the sites providing the download service. IMHO.
I appreciate your sentiment, but that didn't seem to offer much consolation or substance for the worry warts.
