Don't forget that the nameplate on the outside of your DVD player doesn't mean that it was made by that manufacturer. It could have been made by another company on an OEM basis. Therefore, it's not unthinkable that some of the Toshiba, Panasonic or Sony DVD players are actually made by a different company, although I have no specific knowledge of this.

Imagine, some people still believe that they are buying electronics that is somehow "better" just because it says Toshiba, Sony, Dell, or IBM on the outside. This is the job of marketing. You gotta look on the inside. This is the task for consumers!!!
