Goodmorning, Christine. And how is the bay today? I took a trip into the "hip" area here last night. It was truly scary. Very crowded with very loud people. I did not have a good time. I was thrilled to get back to my quiet, funky little neighborhood.

What have you and the daughter been reading of late?

No, it isn't. Here's why: If 100 scientists come forward and they are climatology experts who think global warming is a non-issue, but one scientist (who has a grant to study the ongoing impact of global warming -- which is assumed by the grant) warns about it with a carefully worded "research" paper and selected statistics and jargon to delight the media AND a well-known Hollywood figure proclaims global warming real and lists dire consequences if ignored, the mass media will put the one scientist and the Hollywood figure on page one and bury a two paragraph article about the findings of the other 100 scientists on page 108 surrounded by small display advertising.

Christine, re. "Can you tell me..."

Yes.

Actors in acceptance speeches (or anyone with a built-in audience -- including the "star" of the EIB network) have an enormous opportunity to move public opinion absent any respectable foundation for their opinions. This power, while having no effect on global warming, may have an unfortunate effect on the way the issue is viewed and what action is taken.

Other problems were noted simply to suggest that effort to tidy up a known mess staring us in the face might be more useful than arguing about global warming.

Glad I was able to help you connect the dots. :-) It's been suggested to me that inclusion of these little symbols may soften, what a first glance, might seem like a mean spirited remark. Im not convinced but thought I might experiment.

BTW, your underwear post was a beautiful thing!
