Yes, I recently noticed that too. It really hacks me off.

IMO, Yahoo, MS and G02Net and many of the others suffer from a gross lack of business sense. They all seem to be out doing their own little "geek deals" - - wheeling and dealing - - trying to make a profit, but they all miss a key point....

That point is....what does the customer want? MS has no clue**. Yahoo might have a slight clue. GO2Net with SI apparently has no clue about what the customer wants either.

** There was an article in one of the major news weeklies this week talking about MS finally decided to ask people what they wanted in the way of improvements in their operating systems. Duh...finally! After it's too late. [reference available on request].

I think what's happening here is a classic situation...a major disparity in what geeks think is hot, and what paying customers actually demand. A major disconnect, IMO. This SI site change is a typical example of a botched deal.
