Actually the problem(s) in question with the 'expansion' cards is simply a driver issue as far as I have been able to ascertain. It's a similar situation to the Windows thing on the k6-cxt core where there was a poorly written timing loop. Same thing on the K7. One of these days maybe companies will learn how to write timing loops that don't depend on instruction latencies.
