Re: may propel Intel into a totally different orbit.

I agree with every thing that you said in that post. Especially that, right now, AMD is a one trick pony. OTOH, can you estimate a percentage of Intel's profits that are from its CPU/Chipset/Motherboard business? The incredible profitability of Intel may not be quite so diversified, though it is qualitatively more diversified than AMD.

Regarding another comment:
====================================
Intel is a growing $27 BILLION company for a good reason.
AMD has been a <$2.5 BILLION company for 4 years - for a good reason.
====================================
I'd point out that Intel is a $27 billion dollar that's presently valued by the market at $236 billion while
AMD is a $2.5 Billion dollar company presently valued by the market at $2.5 Billion.

Paul - RE: "The year 2000 will have a host of other products that may propel Intel into a totally different orbit from AMD."

That doesn't preclude AMD from winning at the same time as Intel.

Pluto goes around the Sun just like Uranus does.

RE: <<As for Intel's prospects, just look at what they have coming to market. Granted, many of these products have been delayed, but many are going to be In SYSTEMS within a few months:>>

Who are you kidding? They have all been delayed.

Buy AMD.
