True if you are talking technicals, false if you are considering fundamentals.

When the net stocks got hammered in 1996, it was a great opportunity to buy AOL and YHOO (and to a lesser extent XCIT). It was a disastrous time to buy CYCH, OMKT, SDTI, etc. Notwithstanding Abelson's/KIS's suggestions that the web sector is driven solely by ignorant, manic newbies, the market has a generally good record of identifying winners, even if it subsequently has rewarded those winners with excessive, unsustainable, valuations.
