I just checked out DIMD's rioport.com. I was really surprised at the amateurish mistakes on the site. They have a win a RIO PMP300 every day in July link that is still up. When you go there, the rules say the contest is from July 8, 1999 to June 31, 1999. Time obviously runs backwards here and why say every day in July when it runs from the 8th to the 31st? Guess that July 1 - 7 are now considered part of June. My main complaint is that the link to the contest on the main rioport page, should have been removed Aug 1 early in the morning. It is an incredibly simple thing to do. The date errors should not have occurred if someone was doing their job and checking for correctness before uploading to the server. Another link displays a server error when you click on it, instead of some message about being under construction or better yet, remove the link. Just seems very sloppy. I am wondering if this is from DIMD's people or from iXL ?? All in all, I wasn't impressed and don't think that it is a site that someone would want to visit regularly. I think to really hit it big, it must be a site that people will want to visit each day, like a stock site like SI or a news site like USA Today. I hope that this site will be redone to make it a more appealing destination. Maybe they are just in transition, and if so, spell it out!
