First of all, I have to admit that it has been a long time since I read any of Jaspers and because I do not read German, I had to read Die geistige Situation der Zeit and Philosophie und Welt in translation, so I am sure I missed a great deal. However, it seems to me that Jaspers would say on the limitations of, say, language and the problem of conveying the notion of "blueness" to a person who has never seen the color that there are degrees of metaphor that blend to give a more complex overall emotive expression.

It is this underlying template of meaning that allows us to make analogies across experiences and disciplines to discover shared meanings, what, if I remember correctly, he considered the "Common Language" forming the context for all metaphors, analogies, and symbols. It is this resonance that enables understanding and meaning. Add relational considerations and one can see the origin of "intuition," where the correct choice of aspects gives a "sudden" awareness.
