Rarebird, this is the third year in a row that I have seen the stock market tank in the summer, and each time the gold bugs start jumping up and down for joy, yelling, "Whoopee! Now it's OUR turn!" Well, here we are again, but this year sports the added spectres of Y2K, Nostradamus and end-of-millenium fever to really get your blood going. So, maybe it IS your turn. Care to go out on a limb and state your best guess for the price for gold on January 1, 2000? Cheers! Rick

Then why do you bother to post so often to me, Ron. Rarebird, Its seems to me that I came home this afternoon and you had posted to me an article, not personal thought. Just someone else's article that you decided to plant in a post to me. This entire thread of discussion apparently began when I provided my thoughts on the Bill Murphy report on Tiger Management. (and I note that Bill also sent out TheStreet.com article to his email list without obtaining permission from the management there at TSCM). You did not try to post a response to my points... but merely an article. It's just a bit insulting to see how little you try to engage in free individual debate instead of propaganda from the gold industry. And you're still defending the comments of a guy working outta his stodgy office on 17th & M here in DC (It's not nearly as nice as the CATO institute) who COMPLETELY IGNORED the fact that the BOJ intervened at least 3 times in order to prop up the dollar and weaken their yen. That means this guy has conclusive evidence that the Japanese want to weaken, not strengthen their currency. They spent BILLIONS trying to accomplish just that. That is not just maybe being wrong, it is a guarantee of being wrong. It will be the Japanese that suffer from their corporate profits going back into the tank as they lose competitive advantage. And after the dollar bottoms, it will be just one resurgence as it was last fall to old highs, and probably beyond. That what is so annoying about dealing with you. The entire debating process seems entirely one-sided without you trying to deal with the hard questions or obvious errors. I'm certainly NOT intimidated by your logic (as of yet..:0). However, I am UNDERWHELMED by it though. My point being... if you aren't going to PERSONALLY address the subject matter in one of my posts to you, then don't bother posting anything at all. Post it to yourself or someone else. I'll more than likely read it anyway without you targeting me. It just manifests how hollow your debating points apparently are. And the pain of watching you go to such extremes to avoid debates or an to analytically scrutinize your favorite pieces of propaganda is just to painful to bear. So please spare me the misery...
