Samsung semiconductor has a paper at it's site stating this. But they compare 40ns drdram (cream of the binsplits) with cas 3 PC133. It's a prearranged outcome.

There are other issues regarding the memory bus that are beyond my knowledge. Bottom line for me is that the overall system performance of the 300/600 parts was no better than PC100, so I would expect the 400/800 parts to be no better than PC133 (it's the same percentage increase).

So getting people to pay twice as much is going to be rough. And looking at the DDR, VC, and other low cost enhancements to SDRAM that are shipping in the same time frame as rambus makes me think that rambus just isn't going to make it on the basis of superior performance.
