You're right. I don't get a spell button in a message window, but if I click on Tools there is a greyed-out "spelling" entry. So, if spelling was active I would probably also have a button.

I do not have word installed or any dictionary installed for that matter.... Maybe thats the problem.

And yes I have the spell check icon on the comp. bar but it's inactive.
