Bloomberg Story Pegs release on the 16th $849 for the 650, pretty nice. Also, notice the 500 has dropped to $249 - payback? It is surely not a demand induced price drop. At that price we may see an athlon system around $1200. Sunnyvale, California, Aug. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Advanced Micro Devices Inc. said personal computers powered by its new Athlon microprocessors will arrive in stores Aug. 16, running at faster speeds than any of archrival Intel Corp.'s chips. AMD said the new chip will operate at speeds as fast as 650 megahertz, better than originally planned.
