WASHINGTON (Reuters) President Clinton has renounced politics and announced that he has been accepted into St. Anselm's Abbey in Northeast Washington to join the Benedictine monastic life. "It is time for me to atone for all the wrongs I have done, and to dedicate my life to God," noted President Clinton, who will take the monastic name Brother Christopher after the saint who carried the Christ child. "I hope that my conversion will lead others who are still involved in lives of negativism and destructiveness to turn their thoughts into more positive avenues," he added. The President did not take questions after his brief announcement, and spokespersons had no comment other than to say that Hillary Clinton was grateful that now at least she would know where he was at night.
