Rambus Shares Expensive, Forbes' Streetwalker Column Says

Mountain View, California, Aug. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of Rambus Inc., the maker of computer memory accelerating devices, are expensive at about seven times its IPO price of $12 in 1997, Forbes said in its ''Streetwalker'' column. The company is three years late in delivering its speed-enhanced memory chips and PC makers are still waiting for the first shipment. Intel, a key Rambus supporter, considered an alternative to using the Rambus technology in June because makers of PCs costing less than $1,000 didn't want to commit to a new, more-expensive type of memory, Forbes reported.

Mountain View, California-based Rambus Inc. had $37.86 million in sales in fiscal 1998.
