In the health-information field, Medscape, a Web site
that is 35 percent owned by CBS, plans a debut.
The IPO of New York-based Medscape follows comes
two months after drkoop.com (KOOP), a group of Web
sites led by former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop,
jumped 39 percent its first day of trading.
Medscape, underwritten by Donaldson, Lufkin &
Jenrette, BT Alex. Brown Inc. and Bear, Stearns & Co.
Inc., will trade under the ticker symbol "MSCP."
