"AMD said in its last quarterly conference call that it expects to make more than one million units of the Athlon in the fourth
quarter, which is the industry's biggest quarter.

So far, the word on AMD's manufacturing is good. ''The rumors are pretty good, that they are having pretty good luck in the
fabs (fabrication plants) with them,'' said Keith Diefendorff, editor-in-chief of The Microprocessor Report.

AMD also undergoing a search for a president and chief operating officer after Atiz Raza resigned abruptly for personal
reasons, leaving chairman and chief executive W.J. (Jerry) Sanders III as acting president, during one of the company's most
critical product launches in its history.

''The job is almost like mission impossible,'' said Hans Mosesmann, an analyst at Prudential Securities. ''If they are going to be
profitable, it will be because of Athlon.''

More public relations BS.
