PB re <<650 huh? I think you'll have to do better than that.>> and re <<And what if Intel releases Cumine at a speed grade better than what is available from AMD?>>

Stop hinting. Either say it or not. Such hints are already in violation of your confidentiality agreement with your employer. So enlighten us if you are willing but please do not post one-liners aim to hint but not say. They are annoying.

RE <<650 huh? I think you'll have to do better than that.>>

Press releases are going out all over this planet stating that AMD has pulled a coup and come out with a 650 MHz chip, faster than expected but you don't believe it. Now why am I not surprised.

PB - RE: "It sounds like to me the 650 will be announced, not released."

But since Cuontimemine has been DELAYED, AMD will still have time to get the 650MHz Athlon "released" before Intel can come out with 667.

Intel will retaliate with a 667MHz chip and have the lead, but I would expect AMD to announce the 700 they have crowed about. Will Intel retaliate and come out with the 733, or will they do an AMD/PIII 550 and announce it, having it ready to ship when the new year comes out.

"The K7 release has all the earmarks of a typical AMD release, i.e., the average Joe will be hard pressed to get the product they're announcing for a while."

Don't point fingers yet, we still have to see what Intel will do with the PIII 733!
