Bill, the dollar has reversed course, sentiment is extremely negative (look at the put/call ratios), and everything is way oversold...usually we get a pretty decent rally under these conditions. there is just too much unanimity at the moment w/regards to prices heading lower - remember, the market has a tendency to confound majority views.
perhaps the bond market will pressure stocks some more, but even that looks very oversold. looking at thursday and friday last week, the market held up exceptionally well considering the bad economic(inflationary)data. conclusion: it doesn't want to go down further. if it doesn't go down further, it will likely go up.
just playing devil's advocate.
