Seems to me (for daytraders) that the sell-off today is a nice opportunity, and an over-reaction...it is only a billion-dollar stock deal (small)...highly synergistic....integration process should be a snap...Cisco does these all the time (and the stock doesnt take a hit)...

Market taking out over 2B in EMC's market cap so far...that doesnt make sense.....Stock should rally over next couple days (from 56/57 level)...daytraders should make some money if they are buying now.....

Another way of looking at it: a 56 to 70 move means 25%....that about the surest 25% one can bank on over the next year.....

This (deal) is just making a STRONG BUY even a STRONGER BUY

Good points, Tulvio.

There's significant synergistic appeal to this combination of best in class medium and large data storage companies.

I question your conclusion that DGN is "best in class". Perhaps it is best in class SAN medium scale storage company, but will SAN be able to beat NAS products in this space, such as NTAP?

Clarion has historically sold its products through resellers, as I recall. Can EMC afford to use its direct sales force to focus on the Clarion market, or will the VAR model work in competing with NTAP which has direct sales and the Dell partnership? (I wonder outloud.)

Can we get our hands on the gross margin and ASP that Clarion commands? I will resist speculating about these numbers.

Will the DGN purchase bog down EMC, as it must deal now with a whole set of products that fall outside its core competency?
