I understand that you are not trying to impose. I absolutely think that having a strong film and art background has alot to do with my appreciation of the film. That is, by the way, all that I meant when I said that I though Kaufman should have "known better", that he had a thorough grounding in film. Unfortunately, he is also an elderly man with a certain nostalgia for the films that he cut his teeth on...You are perfectly right that appreciating Greek tragedy, or even Shakespeare, requires some educational background and other preparation...I mentioned earlier, in fact, that I thought that the world was properly made up of all kinds of people, and that they have a right to be entertained in a manner appropriate to their situation. In fact, I cannot cajole you into liking a film you didn't like, all I can do is say why I think it was not puerile and sordid, but had "redeeming social value", and that was my main intent...
