E-chemicals are still considered B2B although not the sexy part. Companies that provide product and services to other companies have been successful for years. IBM for example is mostly a B2B that sells product and services to other businesses. not too shabby. I think that ICGE is being smart in diversifying into less glamorous areas, because it should yield a lower beta and quicker turn toward positive cash flow. JMHO

Here is what ICGE says about E-Chemicals,I don't think it is B2C but rather B2B as I don't know of too many consumers buying chemicals the way they buy books, gifts etc.

Distribution markets are characterized by comparatively inefficient distribution channels. To service these markets, ICG distributor Partner Companies act as principals in transactions, distributing goods and services between buyers and sellers who connect with each other over the Internet. Partner Companies in this segment generate revenue by charging buyers and sellers fees for transactions conducted on Partner Companies' sites.

An example of an ICG distributor Partner Company is e-Chemicals. E-Chemicals believes traditional distribution channels for chemicals burden customers with excessive transaction costs, high administrative costs and inefficient logistics. To solve these problems, e-Chemicals has developed a Web site through which it sells a wide range of small-order industrial chemicals to business customers. E-Chemicals provides products based on streamlines Web-based ordering processes, modern outsourced logistics systems and online support. Other examples of ICG virtual distributor partners include Mega-Depot and Commerx.'
