Thanks, George. While I don't fully see the all of the significance of all of those reasons personally, specifically the university part (due to the good citizenry discounts that edu's often receive) that's a fair enough reply for me for the purposes of this thread. But I would question why it is you feel that LU hasn't recognized the significance of their own AllWave fiber, themselves. Two thoughts occur to me concerning the latter, which might cause LU to present a lower profile than they otherwise would:

- LU's own DWDMs fall far short of filling their own newly-produced AllWave fibers, still; and/or,

- there is some chance of cannibalization taking place here, w/r/t their own prior single mode grades of fiber which are still stockpiled high somewhere.

Assuming that NOPT is preparing to exploit these capabilities which you have outlined, the next logical question becomes: Whose multi-terabit engines would they use?

No need to answer this last one, since most candidates for this space are still embryonic, or just poking through the shell. Unless NOPT is partnering or beta-ing with someone at this time. Any thoughts along these lines? -grin-
