Oddly enough, my wife had to go to Birmingham in the past year. She thought it was nice enough. I grew up in a real "border state" kind of neighborhood, where we would argue about which side we would be on in the Civil War, and I remain overly sensitive in the South itself, although, strangely, I feel little or no prejudice towards Southerners that I meet outside of the region......

Going to Florida last year we decided to stop in Montgomery, Al. for the night. Expecting shoeless people with green teeth we were amazed. Looking at all the medical facilities, there must be some major medical teaching in that city.
