Corner Bay Alamo Dorado drilling results Corner Bay Minerals Inc BAY Shares issued 8,808,207 Aug 11 close $0.95 Thu 12 Aug 99 News Release Mr. Peter Mordaunt reports The current drilling on the company?s Alamo Dorado silver/gold property in Sonora, Mexico, is exceeding expectations. <P> Infill reverse circulation drilling is the primary focus of the program. Two infill sections have been drilled so far and both have demonstrated early in the campaign that continuity between sections and along strike is excellent. More importantly, the new drill holes have clearly shown that previous drilling understated the true width of silver and gold mineralization particularly near surface where previous holes had stopped short. Simply put, new drill holes drilled between existing sections, on 50-metre line spacing, have been drilled longer than the original holes and have enhanced the true width of the precious metal envelope. This is characterized as supergene secondary silver and gold enrichment and is expected to result in higher grade and more tonnes for the deposit. It is the secondary nature of the mineralization at Alamo Dorado that has shown excellent response to leaching. The unique, elevated surface topography coupled with the robust silver and gold content of the deposit gives the property economic advantages for mining and processing. By way of example, recently drilled holes AD-29, AD-25 and AD-24 were drilled on section 2+50 south. These drill holes are significantly wider and higher in grade than the holes drilled on adjacent sections 3+00 south and 2+00 south. This is a direct result of drilling longer holes and ultimately determining the true width of the silver and gold mineralization. Interestingly, this section is in the starter pit area as earlier determined by engineering consultant Mintec Inc. of Tucson, Ariz. Similarly, recently drilled section 0+50 south has yielded significantly wider intersections than adjacent sections 1+00 south and 0+00 on either side. Downdip drilling on section 1+00 south in holes AD-31 and AD-30 has obtained encouraging results that continue to meet economic grade/width cutoffs determined by Mintec Inc. These holes confirm the idea that the deposit is still open at depth. Drilling will continue over the next couple of months and then all data will be submitted to Mintec for an independent resource and reserve study. Mintec earlier estimated a minable pit reserve containing 66.5 million equivalent silver ounces in 24.7 million tonnes. Other work completed at Alamo Dorado over the past two months includes more metallurgical test work. Two mini-column tests were completed by Metcon Research on material that had been derived from the previous drill programs. The purpose of these studies was to determine the potential leach rates of the silver and gold. Results for this work showed gold recoveries of 90 per cent and silver recoveries of 89 per cent. This preliminary test work concluded that the ores at Alamo Dorado are not only amenable to heap leaching but the silver and gold leach kinetics were fast, which was attributable to secondary oxide minerals. This also confirms that silver and gold is fine and disseminated throughout oxidized rocks hosting the deposit. As follow up to this work, more testing will be completed to determine the ultimate crushing of the ores for commercial production. This optimization of the crushing will be completed later this year once the current program determining reserves has been completed. The metallurgical work that is contemplated will be sufficient for a final feasibility study.
