Frankly, I'm puzzled by the lack of a CDMA entrant into the MMDS or LMDS sector. It's not limited to narrow-band than any other technology. As far as QCOM IPR, it doesn't apply for the most part as it is narrowband in it's patents. CDMA would wed up just as nicely to ATM netowrks as any other, IMO.

Sprint and MCIWorldcom strategies in the MMDS arena is different. Sprint is going after consumer, ex voice for the time being. Seems they are going to use PCS as voice and MMDS as high speed data, or at least that looks to be the strategy. A few years ago in this thread I advocated flat rate home cell for PCS and it looks as though that is what is going to happen. MCIWorldcom is after the business last mile, which is a bit confusing to me, with them having MFS metro fiber serivce that brings most times the bandwidth to the customer. They do still use ROBC's to a degree however. I'm not sure they will get away with it.
Sprint is still saying that they will deliver digit TV over it which will increase the amount of TV channels to the consumer as it's more efficent with MPEG compression standards, but also high speed data as well. Voice may come later. They do talk a great deal about sectorizing it versus the point-multi point single tower method now used.

AT&T is a wildcard with it's acquiring these license when they bought Teleport. They could sell it or use to fill in markets that they don't have a cable presences.
