News about the XOOM deal. Imagine this bodes VERY well for GE. What could the "significant announcements" be?

Xoom.com (XMCM: news, msgs) tumbled 2 5/8, or 8 percent, to 30 3/8. Chairman Chris Kitze told CBS.MarketWatch.com that the company's plan to complete a three-way merger with General Electric's (GE: news, msgs) NBC unit and CNet's (CNET: news, msgs) Snap.com is on track to close by October.

In fact, there could be significant announcements in the next couple of weeks on the business-development side related to the deal, said Xoom executives.

Kitze, who owns 20 percent of Xoom, said he's spoken to all the shareholders personally and nearly 50 percent support the deal. Kitze was responding to a Web site called Iconocast, which boasts to be a "fantastic gossip source."
