Microsoft's operating system can support any type of music file, just as it supports all word processing, spreadsheet, graphic, etc. files. The issue with MS-CE is its size relative to the storage capacity of handheld music players. Off-point, but related to operating systems: One firm that I have often thought might view e.Digital as an attractive takeover candidate is Wind River Systems (WIND). Their specialty is embedded systems and their market cap is about $600 million with about 600 employees. I know that we all have much higher expectations for e.Digital, but this would seem to be a logical move from the standpoint of Wind River.
