DJ Frontier Corp To Develop IP Messaging Platform

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Dow Jones)--Frontier Communications, a unit of Frontier Corp. (FRO), is
developing an outsourced messaging platform for Internet service providers and business customers
based on technology from the Sun Microsystems Inc.'s (SUNW) hardware and the Sun-Netscape
Communications Corp. alliance.

In a press release Monday, Frontier said it expects the messaging service to be ready by the fourth
quarter.

Frontier expects the product to have more security and feature functionality at a lower cost to
customers.

Frontier said the new platform will provide a scalable, reliable and encrypted secure messaging
service built on open standards.

The service will have guaranteed levels of service that will minimize downtime and maintain support,
according to Frontier. The service can support millions of simultaneous users, the company said.

Frontier recently agreed to merge with Global Crossing Ltd. (GBLX)

Frontier Communications provides Internet protocol applications and communications services.

America Online Inc. (AOL) and Sun Microsystems formed the Sun-Netscape Alliance to provide
e-commerce services to business partners and other companies.

Sun Microsystems provides hardware and software services for enterprise-wide intranets and the
Internet.
